This is how the jog wheel on the right and left side of the Xone:3D & 4D (notes CC37 and CC45) are mapped in the pre-configured AH1003 template for Live, but I can't navigate Live to find and select this option for my own custom MIDI mapping. A: You'll need to assign Live's 'Clip Scrub Control' function to. Hi Ableton peeps, This is my first post here of what will be many as I become more and more involved with Live. I've used the software a fair bit already to produce my productions/remixes but mainly I've used it in conjunction with two CDJs to DJ with. To help improve my performance further I've treated (and.

So i was looking to change the setup from a DDJ SX because i feel is kinda limiting my vision on 'how i want to play' and long story short i m a huge Paul Kalkbrenner fan and i saw this video: and i thaught 'this is it!' .I wanted to try something like this, but off course i m not going to buy a studio mixer that cost as much as only god knows x') so i was looking at the Xone 4D because they look like the all in one that give me everything i need for what i m trying to achieve and aren't that much expensive(600 €, used ofc) So what you think? Its a good choice for what i m trying to achive or do you have any other recommendations to a setup like this? I know a Xone 4d is advance stuff, but i willing to put the time on learning everything(or almost) that thing does and make my money worth your opinion is appreciated • • • • •. The xone 4d is around ~$1000-$1500, going via an audio interface will definetly be cheaper if you keep everything digital. Then all you need are two outputs, one for headphones and for the master (e.g. The traktor audio 2, which is about $100).

Also you can have many more channels relatively cheap if you have everything controlled inside ableton. For example the APC mini, it can control 8 channels with clips simultaniously, or you get a launchpad and a korg nanokontrol. Then maybe a controller with knobs for FX/parameter control.

But all in all you will be better off with midi controllers and keeping the audio all digital as it can get really, really expensive with mixing more than 4 analog audio channels. That said, you should make some considerations on what you want/need first and then look for controllers which offer what you want to do. And if you haven't already definetly install ableton because it's a hell of a program (pro tip: download the demo first).

Hope this helps! Well the most expensive part of the xone 4d is the 4 channel soundcard, it would actually be a giant 'waste' (depends on prefernce, but I wouldn't pay 1500 bucks for mixer just to use it as a midi controller). The idea behind the xone lays in the signal path. You have the digital audio channel from the computer, which is then converted to analog (digital signal are just 1's and 0's, there is nothing which can drive speakers, that's why it has to be converted first). Then the analog signal goes through the EQ/Filter section. Xone mixers have analog EQs and Filters which are the reason why they are so expensive, as opposed to e.g.

Pioneer, where every analog signal is converted to digital, then digitally processed (which is much cheaper, a digital filter is just coded, an analog filter consists of a whole circuit). The analog signal is then routed to the output. On the xone all this is analog whereas the e.g. Pioneer converts everything to digital, processes it, and in the end converts everything back to analog. That's the reason why the xone mixers (or in general analog mixers) are so expensive. Some people just like the analog more, some like digital, in the end it's just prefernce.

Often people confuse analog and standalone. Nearly all mixers are digital nowadays, but there are many out there which are standalone, meaning their channels can't be accessed via USB. To come back to live setups: Using standalone mixers can be very expensive because the more channels you need, the bigger the audio interface needs to be and thus is more expensive. This applies because the signal processing is done externally by a standalone mixer. As opposed to having the signal processing done all inside ableton, using midi controllers for the parameters and then just outputting the result on one channel. The signal stays digital and only needs to be converted to analog once in the end. All you need is a suitable midi controller e.g.

The (there are many more out there). This way you need far less channels to do the same things much cheaper.

I apologize if it's too confusing, if you have any questions feel free to ask! Glad it helped! Well, 600€ is a good price for the xone, but you have to decide if it is really what you need. I would do it like this: For the audio I would get the, which is 95€ (these are the links from the german google shopping site, I assume you are in the euro zone, too so prices shouldn't be much diefferent). Then for the control of ableton clips and channel volume I would either get an or the in conjuction with the.

Now for extra knobs to control e.g. FX parameters I would get the.

With the audio 2, apc mini, and launch kontrol you would be at 255€ (335€ with the launch kontrol XL). Download Hindi Typing Book In Pdf there. With the audio 2, launchpad mini, launch control and the korg at 320€ (+100€ for the bigger launchpad and +100€ for the launch control XL). A Xone 4D won't do what Kalkbrenner is doing here but it's probably the closest you'll get with a DJ mixer. He's controlling a full live performance through the mixer and his analog equipment, which is NOT what the 4D is for: that's a 4 channel mixer with extended midi control. You could do this with a hardware mixer and software instruments / Ableton Live, but even that will be costly. So I guess a 4D is the closest you'll get to this, but he's not DJing here, this is a full on live performance.
